The Sidelines : USC Hires Cope as Assistant

Bob Cope, former head coach at the University of the Pacific, was hired today as an assistant coach at USC.
Cope, 54, will be in charge of defensive backs. He replaces Bobby April, who became an assistant coach at Ohio State last month.
Cope spent the last two seasons as the defensive coordinator and defensive line coach at Kansas State. Before that, he was head coach at Pacific for six years. His teams at Pacific were 22-46.
