AT&T; Signs Soviet Deal: American Telephone & Telegraph Co. said it has signed its first equipment distribution agreement with the Soviet Union. The three-year contract will authorize the Moscow Local Telephone Network, known as MGTS, to sell AT&T;’s Spirit Communications System to business customers and AT&T-approved; dealers in and around the Soviet capital. MGTS, the sole provider of telephone services in the Moscow area, will market, install and service the Spirit system, which is designed for small businesses. Terms were not disclosed.
