Molina’s Election to County Board
What an ironic pleasure to have Gloria Molina replace Pete Schabarum on the Board of Supervisors!
I attended many of the supervisors weekly meetings during 1987 and 1988, and was constantly aware of the old-boys club milieu at the Hall of Administration.
This culture reflected itself in the lack of interest of the conservative majority in the problems they were supposed to address: the need for decent health-care services, a sane appropriation for general relief, a deteriorating environment and fair working conditions for the thousands of county employees who are trying their best to make a system work when those at the top seem committed to the system’s destruction.
