Fifteen Ethiopian junior soccer players disappeared from their hotel a few hours before they were to fly home from a tournament and asked Egypt for political asylum, government sources in Ismailiya, Egypt, said.
The sources said the Foreign Ministry rejected the request. But they said the players will not be forced to return home and were referred to the Cairo office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
