A Titan 4 space booster launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base early Friday morning caused a loud boom that awoke area residents.
The booster was launched at 4:03 a.m.
Calls from residents who were concerned about the noise were received by personnel at the base, near Lompoc, as well as Ventura and Santa Paula police, officials said.
No other information was available on the launch because the booster is considered classified information, Lt. Col. Tom Worsdale, spokesman for the base, said.
