MISSING TROOPS

According to the Pentagon, the U.S. troops not yet accounted for in the Gulf War are aircraft pilots or crew members:

Navy Lt. Patrick K. Connor, 25, of Virginia Beach, Va., was shot down over Iraq on Feb. 2 while flying an attack aircraft.

Navy Lt. Cmdr. Barry T. Cooke, 35, of Virginia Beach, Va., was in Connor’s plane.

Navy Lt. William T. Costen, 27, of St. Louis, was shot down in his A-6 aircraft Jan. 18.

Air Force Maj. Donnie R. Holland, 42, of Bastrop, La., was declared missing Jan. 18 after his F-15E went down.

Air Force Maj. Thomas F. Koritz, 37, of Rochelle, Ill., went down in an F-15E and was declared missing Jan. 18.

Air Force Capt. Stephen Richard Phillis, 30, of Rock Island, Ill., was listed missing Feb. 16 after A-10 went down.

Marine Capt. David Spellacy, 28, of Worthington, Ohio, was the forward air controller in an OV-10 observation plane that went down Feb. 25. Maj. Joseph J. Small III, the pilot, has been released as a POW.

Navy Lt. Charles J. Turner, 29, of Richfield, Minn., was a navigator on Costen’s plane.

Marine Capt. Reginald C. Underwood, 27, was downed in a Harrier jump jet Feb. 27. His hometown is unknown.

Navy Lt. Cmdr. Michael S. Speicher, whose plane went down in Iraqi territory Jan. 17. Defense Secretary Dick Cheney announced that day that Speicher had died.
