In the Webb track and field invitational:

Orange Lutheran wins--Two scored in seven of the meets’ 15 events for Orange Lutheran’s girls’ team, which won with 126 points. Oak Park (72) finished second. Lutheran had two standouts: Amber Parkinson was named the distance athlete of the meet after winning the 1,600 meters (5:15.15) and 800 (2:26.36), and Renee Wright was named the sprint athlete of the meet after she won the 100 hurdles (16.54) and 300 hurdles (50.91). Lutheran’s Erika Ebel won the triple jump (34-10 1/2).

In the Corona softball tournament:

Irvine 5, Jurupa Valley 0--Karissa Meith hit two-run home run in the first inning and Jennifer Brundage (4-0) got the victory in four innings of relief, striking out six and walking none for Irvine (4-1) in the third-place final.

Canyon 1, La Sierra 0--Maureen Del Mazzio scored from second on Senetha Thomas’ single, and Aime Mauzey pitched a three-hitter for Canyon in the consolation final.

In nonleague softball:

Newport Harbor 10-8, Laguna Beach 0-7--Ali Barry had two hits, including a double, and Lisa Bernhard had two hits, including a bases-empty home run in the fifth inning, for visiting Newport Harbor in the first game.

In boys’ swimming:

Southcoast Relays--Capistrano Valley won two of seven events and took second in two others to win the championship with 180 points. Defending section 3-A champion San Marino, now competing in 4-A, also won two events and finished second with 166 points. Mission Viejo was third with 156. Capistrano Valley won the 4 x 100 individual medley relay (anchored by defending section 200 IM champion Kevin Eggert) and the 6 x 50 freestyle relay.

In boys’ tennis:

Costa Mesa High School-Orange County Invitational--Quang Bui of Costa Mesa defeated Garden Grove’s Steven Ho, 6-2, 6-0, to capture the varsity singles championship. In varsity doubles, Costa Mesa’s Vinh Dinh and Son Nguyen defeated La Quinta’s Loi Du and Hein Ngo, 6-2, 7-6, for the championship.
