Schrader Hangs On, Beats Elliott by 3.02 Seconds

Ken Schrader held off Bill Elliott to win the rain-delayed Motorcraft 500 stock car race Monday at Hampton, Ga.
He edged Elliott by 3.02 seconds in earning his first Winston Cup victory since winning at Charlotte, N.C., in October of 1989.
Schrader, who collected $69,250, averaged 140.470 m.p.h. on the 1.5-mile Atlanta Motor Speedway oval. Dale Earnhardt finished third, followed by Morgan Shepherd and Michael Waltrip.
