Diamond Bar : New Mayor Takes Post
John Forbing on Tuesday began what may be the shortest mayoral term in Diamond Bar’s short city history.
Mayoral terms usually run one year, but Forbing will serve about an eight-month stint set to expire in November or December, unless the City Council votes to renew his term.
The short term comes because of a onetime adjustment in the mayoral rotation system to allow the new mayor to take office each year in December. Previously, new mayors started each April.
Forbing succeeds Gary Werner in the post. The next council member scheduled for rotation into the largely ceremonial mayor’s job is Jay Kim, who on Tuesday became mayor pro tem.
