CLIPBOARD : February Sales- and Use-Tax Revenues
- Share via
A valentine in the form of almost $29 million made its way back into Orange County in February, the latest rebate of sales- and use-tax revenues. The amount was a small, 3.7% increase above the amount received last February. Collectively, the county’s cities did a little better--a 5.1% increase--while county agencies received 17.4% less.
Among the cities, Anaheim received by far the largest amount, $3.4 million. However, tiny La Palma had the largest increase compared to last February, 118.3%. On the down side, Villa Park had the biggest comparative loss, 49.4% below last February.
Each month, city and county governments and other governmental organizations receive payments from the state in anticipation of actual sales-tax revenues. In the fourth month, they receive a cleanup payment--the difference between actual revenues and the amounts previously received--plus the first advance payment for the next quarter. The amounts listed below represent the third advance payment for the fourth quarter of 1990.
