Government Speeds Up Thrift Takeovers: The Office of Thrift Supervision is doubling its takeovers of failing thrifts to 25 a month, up from about a dozen a month earlier this year, OTS Director Timothy Ryan said. The OTS currently has 150 savings and loans it expects will have to be taken into government conservatorship for liquidation or sale, Ryan said.
