Store, Scene of Hostage Siege, Reopens

SACRAMENTO — An electronics store opened for business Saturday for the first time since April 4, when a bloody hostage siege left three gunmen and three hostages dead.
“We were devastated by the events that happened and I think everybody is trying to put their lives back together,” said Good Guys employee Mark Anderson, one of about 35 workers who staffed the reopening. “We are trying to maintain a positive attitude and I think we are succeeding.”
In the incident, four gunmen invaded the store and took 41 people hostage. Much of the 8 1/2-hour confrontation was broadcast live over local and national television, and watched by the gunmen. The surviving gunman remains hospitalized.
Anderson said that “only a few of the employees who were here (April 4) are here today. The others are still recovering physically and emotionally.”
