POP ALBUM CHART : No ‘Sweat’ for Mariah Carey
- Share via
C+C Music Factory’s “Gonna Make You Sweat” is locked into the runner-up spot on the Billboard magazine pop album chart, unable to topple longtime leader “Mariah Carey.” After several weeks at No. 2, C+C may run out of steam without ever reaching the top. Carey’s album, however, should have at least a few more weeks on top. The lastest in her procession of Top 10 singles--which are helping to keep the album on top--is “I Don’t Wanna Cry,” which leaped five places to No. 10 and is a good bet to reach to the top of the pop singles chart. Amy Grant currently has the No. 1 pop single “Baby Baby,” which is powering her album “Heart in Motion” (No. 14). Fast starts: Pat Benatar’s blues album, “True Love,” No. 40; the Kentucky HeadHunters’ “Electric Barnyard,” No. 44.
* The soundtrack album from “New Jack City” is as hot as the movie, climbing three notches to No. 9.
