Pollution Research & Control Corp., a Glendale-based maker of pollution-monitoring devices, reported a $170,000 profit in the second quarter ended June 30, while revenues rose 18% to $1.28 million. A year earlier, Pollution Research lost $1.05 million on $1.09 million in revenues.
For the six months ended June 30, the company earned $287,000, compared to a $1.14-million loss a year earlier. Revenues fell 3% to $2.57 million from $2.65 million.
Pollution Research said its profit turnaround from last year was due to its discontinuing some unprofitable lines and increased demand for its products because of the new federal clean-air legislation.
