Great Republic Clients Guaranteed Coverage

Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi said Blue Cross of California will guarantee coverage of the 25,000 health insurance customers of Great Republic Insurance Co., a financially troubled insurer that regulators seized earlier this month.
Great Republic policyholders “will receive affordable alternative coverage without a break in service,” Garamendi said.
He continues to try to place the 6,800 life insurance customers of Santa Barbara-based Great Republic with another insurer.
