General Dynamics Wins Jet Contracts: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has awarded General Dynamics $110.7 million in subcontracts to help develop the FS-X fighter for the Japan Defense Agency. The Ft. Worth company is working on the plane’s aft fuselage, leading edge flap, wing, avionics system and computer-based avionics test equipment. Mitsubishi and General Dynamics are joint developers of the plane, a hybrid of the F-16 fighter tailored to Japanese requirements. General Dynamics’ share of the production phase of the program could be worth more than $2 billion. About 130 aircraft will be built.
