OBITUARY : Verne Cowell, Ex-Pharmacist in El Monte

Longtime El Monte pharmacist Verne Willard Cowell died of heart disease Saturday. He was 81.
Cowell established the El Monte Drug Co. and operated it for 40 years, until his retirement in 1986.
He was past president of the Pharmaceutical Assn. of Southern California, the San Gabriel Valley Boys Club and Five Points Rotary Club of El Monte. He was active in the El Monte Chamber of Commerce and First Presbyterian Church of El Monte.
He is survived by his wife, Florita, a brother, Glenn, and two nephews. Funeral services were Tuesday.
