California IN BRIEF : VISALIA : Hiker’s Body Found After Apparent Fall

The body of a hiker who apparently fell from a steep cliff in Inyo National Forest has been found. The remains of John Packel, 43, of Bishop, who had been reported missing Friday, were found by fishermen near Camp Nelson. Tulare County sheriff’s officials said Packel was an experienced backpacker traveling alone when he apparently encountered rough, rocky terrain and fell.
