Datametrics Corp., a Chatsworth manufacturer of printers and other equipment for the military, reported that its profit jumped to $255,000 in the fiscal third quarter that ended July 28 from $47,000 a year earlier, despite a 20% decline in revenues. Datametrics’ revenues totaled $5.2 million for the most recent quarter, contrasted with $6.5 million in the third quarter of fiscal 1990.
For the nine months that ended July 28, Datametrics earned $619,000, up 68% from $368,000 a year before. Revenues, however, fell 28% to 14.8 million from $20.6 million.
The company said its higher earnings reflected its continuing cost cuts and emphasis on more profitable products.
