SIMI VALLEY : Rig Blocks Freeway After Hitting Barrier
- Share via
A big-rig truck spun out of control on the Simi Valley Freeway early Thursday, blocking westbound lanes for about two hours near the Madera Road off-ramp in Simi Valley, California Highway Patrol spokesman Jim Utter said.
The driver, Baldmero Guajardo of Indio, was treated at Simi Valley Hospital and released, he said.
The truck, traveling at 50 to 55 m.p.h., drifted off the road at 12:15 a.m. and struck two sand-filled containers designed to cushion a vehicle’s impact, Utter said. The truck then struck a three-foot-high concrete barrier, and the cab rode along the top of the barrier for about 130 feet.
