DIAMOND BAR PLAN: The first of two public hearings by the Diamond Bar Planning Commission on the 2 1/2-year-old city’s first general plan will be held at 7 p.m. today at the Walnut Valley Unified School District Board Room, 880 S. Lemon Ave.
BUDGET WOES: The Norwalk City Council on Tuesday will consider a proposal to lay off 10 municipal employees to save $550,000 a year. Residents have protested the proposed layoffs, which would pare the city’s anti-gang program at a time when gang crime is on the rise. The budget deliberations will begin at 8 a.m. at Norwalk City Hall, 12700 S. Norwalk Blvd.
DROP IN: Adults without high school diplomas are invited to drop in Thursday to any of the state’s 315 adult schools for education counseling. No appointment is necessary.
