Latinos experience higher rates of diabetes, high blood pressure and AIDS and are less likely to have health insurance than other segments of the U.S. population, Surgeon General Antonia Coello Novello told a congressional committee. Health care problems are likely to worsen for Latinos as their number in the population increases, Novello told a joint hearing of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and the House Select Committee on Aging.
