A 28-year-old San Diego man was killed when the motorcycle he was driving was hit by a pickup truck on University Avenue, authorities said.
Kirk McDaniel was making a left turn onto 8th Avenue from the east lane of University Avenue shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday when a pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction entered the intersection, San Diego police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
McDaniel, who had recently moved to San Diego from Ohio, was severely injured when his motorcycle hit the right front side of the pickup truck driven by Michael E. Bradus of San Diego, Robinson said. McDaniel died at UC San Diego Medical Center.
McDaniel’s passenger, Sergio Lemon, 26, was in critical condition Monday at the hospital, a spokeswoman said.
Bradus, who was uninjured, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and is being held in County Jail on $20,000 bail, police said.
