The Patrons Assn. of Valley College in Van Nuys has presented a $2,500 check to the college library to support library programs and purchase new books.
The presentation was made Friday by Ken Worthen, association president, to David May, library chairman. The donation was made possible through a new program called Bookplate Dedications in which donors receive engraved bookplates in exchange for their contributions of funds to purchase books, said Dennis Reed, an associate dean at the college.
Reed said the association is a nonprofit foundation that provides student scholarships and supports college activities. The group, which has been around for a number of years, recently became more active in fund raising because of state budget cutbacks, Reed said.
