WANNABE MOMS: Just across the county line in La Mirada lurks the toy company that brought us the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Now Playmates Toys has turned its attention to aspiring mothers. . . . Their “Waterbabies” doll is the size of a newborn, and its pliant skin reportedly feels like the real thing after Mom or Dad fills the doll with warm water. It’s already No. 6 on the toy industry charts (Ninja Turtles remain No. 1). . . . Another biggie this season comes straight from Disney, whose animated hit “Beauty and the Beast” has inspired two top-selling dolls from Mattel Toys Inc. in Hawthorne.
