Long Beach : System of Fines Instituted for Zoning Code Violations
- Share via
Long Beach plans to start issuing fines for a variety of zoning code violations instead of simply asking violators to correct them.
Under a new system approved by the City Council, $100 citations will be issued for persistent violations involving such matters as signs, landscaping, illegal uses and conditional approvals. If no correction is made, a second, $250 citation will be issued. If the violation remains, it will be referred to the city prosecutor.
Currently a violation is sent to the prosecutor’s office if it remains uncorrected after two notices, but there are no fines.
