A 20-minute car chase Friday afternoon involving three law enforcement agencies ended in Chula Vista with the arrest of an alleged robber and damage to one police car, authorities reported.
“The chase began in National City where a robbery suspect in a stolen car was being watched by National City police detectives in an unmarked car,” said San Diego Police Lt. Tom Orden said.
National City police gave chase at about 2:30 p.m. and asked San Diego police for help when the stolen car sped into San Diego.
As the chase entered Chula Vista, police units from that town joined the pursuit.
One block away from Scripps Memorial Hospital, the suspect sped through a red light and hit a parked car, forcing one San Diego police car into a minor collision.
Clay Paul Reeves, 27, was arrested on suspicion of armed robbery, auto theft and several pursuit offenses, Lt. Bill A. Osburn, National City police chief, said.
