A car jumped a curb in Pacoima and slammed into a light pole Wednesday, killing a 34-year-old North Hills man, Los Angeles police said.
Freddy Hervias suffered massive trauma to his legs and torso and was pronounced dead at the scene, Officer Angelito Angeles said.
Hervias was traveling west on Van Nuys Boulevard near Borden Avenue at more than 60 m.p.h. when he suddenly veered left onto the sidewalk, Angeles said. The car slid along the sidewalk before slamming into a light pole and a parked car.
The accident was being investigated.
