Warranty Calls a Record

California home-warranty firms handled a record 300,000-plus service calls in 1991, paying out about $30 million in claims for repairs and replacements of home systems and major, built-in appliances, according to the Home Warranty Assn. of California. Home warranty companies handled 286,275 service calls in 1990, HWAC reported.
