Falklanders Are Urged to Forgive Argentina

PORT STANLEY, Falkland Islands — The Archbishop of Canterbury urged Falklands residents Sunday to seek reconciliation with Argentina, which invaded the British-ruled territory in the South Atlantic in 1982.
George Carey, spiritual head of the Church of England and leader of the world’s 70 million Anglicans, paid tribute to those killed in the war and told worshipers at Port Stanley’s Christ Church Cathedral: “We owe it to them to dedicate ourselves to hope, to pray and work for a new future in which peace, justice and goodwill will be assured.”
