The Right Start Inc., a mail-order catalogue company specializing in children’s items, posted a $60,000 loss for its fiscal third quarter ended Feb. 26.
The loss compared with a year-earlier profit of $294,000 and reflected “poor response rates for its 1991 holiday catalogue as a result of the recession,” the Westlake Village-based company said. Its third-quarter revenue rose 7%, to $5.46 million from $5.10 million.
For the first nine months of its fiscal year, Right Start’s net income dropped 32% from a year earlier, to $625,000 from $915,000, but its nine-month revenue jumped 39%, to $20.5 million from $14.7 million.
