Nation IN BRIEF : NEW JERSEY : Parolee Confesses to Serial Slayings

A 25-year-old parolee has confessed to the slayings of four women whose bodies were found within a block of one another in East Orange, N.J., over the weekend, authorities said. The suspect, Jerome Dennis, was also charged with a fifth slaying last year in Newark, N.J. Assistant prosecutor Norman Menz said at the arraignment that Dennis had signed a confession that he killed the five women. Superior Court Judge Joseph A. Falcone set bail at $2 million. Dennis was assigned a public defender.
