Chinese President Yang Shangkun is among dignitaries traveling to the North Korean capital for President Kim Il Sung’s 80th birthday celebration on Wednesday.
While no one expects Kim to give up real power as long as he remains healthy, there has been speculation that the occasion may be used to transfer additional authority to his son and designated successor, Kim Jong Il.
