Two teen-age boys were injured, one seriously, when a small pipe bomb they were constructing exploded about 7:15 Wednesday night in the 6800 block of Tuxedo Road in San Carlos.
A 14-year-old boy suffered severe injuries in an eye and multiple puncture wounds on his face and upper body, said San Diego Fire Department spokesman Tom Morris. The boy was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
Another boy, 15, who was helping make the bomb, suffered minor injuries that did not require hospitalization.
The Fire Department did not release the boys’ names.
