Former Students to Honor Retiring Teacher

Clarice Christensen, who is retiring from teaching after 50 years, the last 40 at Marengo School in South Pasadena, will be honored by her former students at a reception from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the school, 1400 Marengo Ave.
Christensen, who is estimated to have taught 1,250 students, attended and then taught in a one-room school in Iowa.
She received her teaching certificate at high school graduation. She came to California in 1952, obtained a provisional credential, and began teaching fourth grade at Marengo while earning her bachelor’s degree at USC.
