Film Premieres: The 10th annual Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Film/Video Festival will open July 9 with two films that are fictional accounts of real stories. “Swoon” is a retelling of the 1924 Richard Loeb-Nathan Leopold kidnaping-murder case, portraying Loeb and Leopold as a gay couple, while “La Monja Alferez” (“The Nun Who Became a Lieutenant”) tells of Catalina de Erauso (born in 1592) who fled a convent to become a soldier. The festival runs through July 18 at the Directors Guild.
