Kenya’s reigning Olympic champions--Paul Ereng (800 meters), Peter Rono (1,500), John Ngugi (5,000) and Julius Kariuki (steeplechase)--failed to qualify at national Olympic trials and will not go to Barcelona. Also beaten out of the qualifying spots were world champions Billy Konchellah (800), Moses Tanui (10,000) and Moses Kiptanui (steeplechase).
