NL President List Includes Ted Sizemore

SAN DIEGO — Ted Sizemore, former Dodger second baseman who is an executive with Rawlings Sporting Goods, is under consideration for National League president, which Bill White will vacate at the end of the year.

Sizemore, who was National League rookie of the year with the Dodgers in 1969 and the regular second baseman until he was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals after the 1970 season, said that he met with White at White’s invitation, but “beyond that I don’t really know what my status is and there’s nothing I can say.”

Bob Watson, assistant general manager of the Houston Astros, and Paul Beeston, president of the Toronto Blue Jays, are also under consideration, it is believed. Garry Maddox, former outfielder for the Philadelphia Phillies, has expressed interest in the position.

Dodger owner Peter O’Malley is chairman of the search committee.
