SAN DIEGO — Sushi Performance Gallery’s 13th season will include a world premiere by Rhodessa Jones and new works by nationally acclaimed Sushi favorites David Cale, Tim Miller, Rachel Rosenthal and Pomo Afro Homos in a series of six engagements called “Tried, New and True.”
In addition, Holly Hughes, who will perform her work in progress, “Snatches,” as a Fresh Dish production at Sushi on Friday and Saturday, will return to present “Snatches” as a Sushi production May 6-8 and May 13-15.
Sushi will also continue its “Danse Fraiche” series in January and February and will bring back last year’s successful “Black Choreographers Moving Toward the 21st Century,” featuring the works of African-American choreographers, at the Lyceum Theatre on March 11-14.

Rachel Rosenthal, the grand dame of performance art, will present her most recent work, “file-name: FUTUREFAX,” set in 2012 AD, a world without animals, plants, trees or toilet paper, Oct. 23-24.
Rhodessa Jones will premiere “The Blue Stories: Black Erotica About Letting Go,” tales of life through the eyes and memories of an African-American woman, Dec. 3-5.
The comic trio Pomo Afro Homos (short for Postmodern African-American Homosexuals) will present its latest, “Dark Fruit,” tales about the contradictions of black gay life, Dec. 10-12.
The Danse Fraiche series will feature New York’s Yvonne Meier with guest dancer Ishmael Houston-Jones, Jan. 7-9; Los Angeles’ Hae Kyung Lee and Dancers, Jan. 28-30; New York’s David Dorfman Dance, Feb. 4-6; San Diego’s Al Germani Company and Mary Reich, Jan. 14-16, and Terry Sprague and an artist to be announced, Feb. 18-20.
