San Diego : Life Term, No Parole Sought in Slaying

Prosecutors will seek a term of life in prison without parole for a drifter accused of kidnaping and murdering a man whose body was never recovered.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Rupert Linley said Thursday in Superior Court that Percyval Leslie Dryden is being charged with the special circumstance of committing a murder during a kidnaping.
Dryden, 25, is charged with murdering 20-year-old Phouvalay Thepsombandith, a Laotian national who disappeared Aug. 18, 1991. Dryden is accused of abducting the victim in Encanto after neighborhood children reported that an Asian male stole a stereo from his car.
Dryden is scheduled for trial Feb. 24.
