WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE: A group of Southern California environmentalists and developers recently met at Trabuco Canyon’s Starr Ranch to search for common ground in protecting endangered species. The unusual daylong discussion came in anticipation of Congress’ review of the Endangered Species Act. The goal: simply get both sides talking. Says one National Audubon Society official: “Few think the idea of protecting species from extinction is a bad one. The debate is over how far we go.”
