Cheney Plans Busy Week of Meetings in in France, Britain

WASHINGTON — Defense Secretary Dick Cheney is scheduled to travel to France and Britain, where he will meet with senior government officials and deliver several speeches.
Cheney will meet Wednesday in Paris with President Francois Mitterrand, Foreign Minister Roland Dumas and Defense Minister Pierre Joxe.
While in England, Cheney plans sessions with Prime Minister John Major, acting Defense Minister Archie Hamilton and Foreign Minister Douglas Hurd.
In London, he will speak at a meeting of the American Chamber of Commerce of the United Kingdom and at a banquet of the Annual International Outlook Conference, the Pentagon said.
While in Britain, Cheney will also visit U.S. troops assigned to the air base at Lakenheath, the statement said. He will return to Washington next Saturday.
