On Historical Houses

In defense of historical houses, costumed docents, rooms painstakingly roped off and lavishly restored (“Montpelier Retains Presidential Past,” by Jeanne Cooper, Sept. 20), let me first say that many of us simply adore this type of thing. It may be loathsome to Cooper, but not at all difficult for the rest of us. Nor do I think of James Madison as a faux-4th President nor scoff at his wife Dolley. Sorry, but I found the article not pleasing in any way.
