Eisner Says Euro Disney Doing ‘Splendid’: The chairman of Walt Disney Co. has dismissed reports suggesting that the Euro Disney theme park near Paris is not doing well, saying in an interview published over the weekend that it was off to a “splendid” start. Asked his verdict for the first six months of the park, which opened in April, Michael Eisner told Le Monde newspaper: “Splendid. And optimistic. We are happy with the way things have been organized and with the reception from the public. We cannot allow the idea to take root that we have in part failed.” On Friday, shares in Euro Disney touched a 1992 low of 66 French francs, or $13.80, in heavy trading, depressed by negative press articles. Dealers said they did not have fresh news about the company, 49% of which is owned by Walt Disney Co., but said a pessimistic view of the share had taken hold of the market.
