COLLEGE ROUNDUP : SCC’s Pool Makes NAIA National Meet

Nikee Pool of Southern California College finished eighth Saturday at the NAIA District 3 women’s cross-country championships at Woodward Park in Fresno, leading the Vanguards to a fourth-place finish.
Pool covered the 5,000-meter course in 19 minutes 49 seconds and qualified for the NAIA nationals, to be held at the University of Wisconsin Parkside in Kenosha on Nov. 21.
SCC’s Nancy Bird finished 10th in 20:00. Tara Fricke finished 11th in 20:01 for Christ College Irvine, which placed seventh.
In nonconference water polo:
UC Irvine 9, Fresno State 7--Senior Pablo Yrizar scored four goals for fourth-ranked Irvine (15-8) at Heritage Park.
In nonconference men’s basketball:
Pacific Christian 114, Pacific Union 87--Charles Ross had 46 points and 15 rebounds to lead Pacific Christian (1-0).
