Bell-Jeff 20, La Salle 14--Sophomore quarterback John Pawlik gained 71 yards in 15 carries and scored two touchdowns to lead visiting Bell-Jeff at La Canada High. With the score tied, 14-14, midway through the fourth quarter, Pawlik scored on a one-yard run.
La Salle tied the score, 14-14, midway through the third quarter on Tim Esquival’s eight-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Mario Gonzalez. Esquival, who caught five passes for 104 yards, also caught a 45-yard scoring pass in the first quarter.
Sophomore David Quintero rushed for 81 yards in seven carries in his varsity debut for Bell-Jeff, including a 42-yard touchdown gallop in the second quarter.
