Coach: Harry Hutcheson (first year).
1991-92: 14-6-4, 3-6-1 in league; fourth in South Coast League.
Key returners: Renee Greco, Jr., fullback; Lindsay Light, Jr., halfback; Alecia Maher, Sr., fullback; Renee Parker, So., forward; Robin Perry, Sr., fullback; Kim Thompson, Jr., halfback.
Key newcomers: Jo-Ellen Bosco, So., forward; Jenne Riesz, So., fullback; Denise Velton, So., fullback.
Outlook: Hutcheson, who was Capistrano Valley’s goalkeeper on the 1981 Division 2-A boys’ championship team and assisted Cougar Coach Ron Willms for eight years, becomes the school’s fourth girls’ coach in four seasons. He plans to stick around--”I told my team, ‘I’m going to be here for a while, so you might as well get used to me.’ “--and the Cougars should challenge for a playoff spot in the section’s toughest league. Leading scorer Monika Larsson has graduated, but the team’s balance should be much improved. “Losing her is going to hurt, but in losing an individual, I think we’re gaining a team,” Hutcheson said. Light and Thompson make for a potent halfback combination.
