Huntington Beach 90, Encinitis San Dieguito 56--Junior forward Tony Gonzalez had 23 points for Huntington Beach (1-0).
Corona del Mar 56, El Toro 39--Senior guard Todd Merriman scored 17 points for Corona del Mar (1-0).
In the Charter Oak boys’ tournament:
La Habra 68, Covina Western Christian 26--Eddy Glover had 23 points and six rebounds and Gene Gonzalez had nine points for La Habra (2-0).
In the Century girls’ tournament:
Capistrano Valley Christian 52, Sunny Hills 36--Marcy Giosa had 15 points for Capistrano Valley Christian (1-0). Teammate Lisa Bradberry had 10 points and 13 rebounds. Sunny Hills is 0-2.
Century 60, Sonora 38--Sophomore Nina Alexander scored a career-high 18 points--all in the first half--for Century (1-0).
In the Irvine girls’ tournament:
Ocean View 58, Santa Margarita 46--Theresa Martini had 16 points for Ocean View, scoring eight in Ocean View’s 21-point second quarter. Farah Maggee scored 12 points and had six rebounds for Ocean View (1-0).
Woodbridge 84, Loara 25--Nicole Quinn, a senior forward, had 23 points for Woodbridge (1-0). The Warriors led, 42-10, at the half.
Capistrano Valley 50, University 40--Senior Angie White led Capistrano Valley (1-0) over University (0-1). Jennifer Stanley had 14 points for University.
In nonleague boys’ soccer:
Katella 8, Savanna 0--Jesse Santivanez, Darren Zinser and Mike Rubio scored two goals each for host Katella (1-0).
