Hawthorne 14, Santa Barbara San Marcos 9--The Cougars (11-2) took advantage of two San Marcos fumbles to advance to the Division III final, their first championship appearance since 1959.
San Marcos’ kick returner Tony Rodriquez fumbled the opening kickoff on his own 19-yard line, and Hawthorne’s Kalisi Moala returned it for a touchdown.
Hawthorne increased its lead to 14-0 on a four-yard pass from Kenji Tatum to Justin Stallings with five minutes to play in the third quarter.
