ANAHEIM — A 59-year-old woman was killed Thursday morning when the car she was riding in slammed into a signal pole at East La Palma Avenue and North State College Boulevard, police said.
Pearl Fay Platt of Murrieta was a passenger in a car driven by her husband, Earl L. Platt, who was seriously injured in the 8:03 a.m. accident, said Sgt. Harold Parkison.
Platt reportedly swerved in the middle of the intersection to avoid hitting another car when he lost control and hit the pole, Parkison said.
His wife was rushed to Anaheim Memorial Hospital, where she died. Her husband was taken to UCI Medical Center, where he remains in stable condition.
